This survey is part of the Municipal Oversight and Accountability Project –Sol Plaatje Youth First, which is aimed at advocating for youth development in the municipality through research that advocates for targeted, area-specific programs. The project team has identified a gap in youth development initiatives, particularly in the urban areas of Kimberley, and aims to address this by conducting in-depth research that identifies the unique needs of the youth population in the community.
The project team’s data collection efforts will provide valuable insight into the lived experiences of the youth, including their challenges and needs. The project team hopes to leverage this data to advocate for youth-focused programs that will ultimately contribute to the development of a sustainable community. The project aims to produce a comprehensive research paper which highlights the challenges facing youth in the area and offers recommendations that could meet their specific needs.
