Corruption in our city’s procurement procedures threatens service delivery and citizen welfare. It’s time to demand transparency and accountability. We, the 2024 ASRI Future Leaders Program cohort, urge the local government to implement a by-law reform for transparent tender processes.
Our Proposed Regulation:
- Strengthen supervision of the Municipal Mayor.
- Mandate disclosure of all purchasing details.
- Set clear publication deadlines.
- Extend review periods to a month.
- Publish blacklisted businesses.
- Prioritize local business tenders.
How Our By-Law Works:
Require MMCs to report tender details monthly for public scrutiny. Standing committees will publish winning bidder documentation within 21 days, with no final contracts until a 30-day public review.
