The Auwal Socio-Economic Research Institute (ASRI) is a pluralist domestic public policy institute that conducts Applied Research, Prototyping and Advocacy in the job creation, nation building, crime and justice, education, and healthcare policy sectors. ASRI conducts advocates for laws, policies and programmes, inspired by constitutional values, at a national, provincial and local level to achieve a just and prosperous society.
As part of ASRI’s ongoing civic education and engagement programmes we have designed and recently launched a ten-week long Civic Leadership Programme (CLP) Level 2 for participants of the 2023 ASRI Civic Leadership Programme.
The aim of the second level of the ASRI Civic Leadership Programme (CLP) is to further educate and train Muslim youth leadership at South African universities on a range of issues that affect their faith in a fast-paced world and enhance their ability to serve their respective constituencies with excellence, efficiency and Ihsaan.
The ASRI Civic Leadership Programme comprises ten online engagements in total broken down into one session once per week that are spaced out throughout the remainder of the year factoring examinations and university vacations. Level two of the ASRI Civic Leadership Programme will feature greater interaction as selected participants will have an opportunity to present short papers in a seminar format with the assistance of an academic supervisor and robust engagement.
The sessions will be recorded so participants will be able access them later should they wish to review material or if they have missed a session. The sessions will cover a wide variety of topics such as Islam & ethics, faith & productivity, constitutionalism, women’s rights, education, environmentalism, and community development.
The first session will take place on Thursday 25 April 2024 at 20:00 (CAT)
